TOM SWIFT - Victor Appleton - the Stratemeyer Syndicate - Numbers 12 to 24
My favorite Swiftie:

Tom glowed with enthusiasm as he shouted, "This rock is radioactive."
The Tom Swift books were my first encounters with science fiction.  I found the first book that I read in our library in
McComb, Mississippi, when I was nine or ten.  Victor Appleton was probably the first author to whom I felt any
allegiance.  Little did I know at the time about the Stratemeyer Syndicate's habit of hiring out the stories to authors
who submerged their talents into the collective psuedonym of Victor Appleton.

Over the last few years I've begun to collect the books and to make facsimile dust jackets that I sell on this site.  At
first I made the jackets for my collection, but later began to sell them to augment funds for my voracious collecting
habits.  I have made facsimile jackets for the first thirty-six in the Tom Swift Senior series, but as yet, I have no idea
what the last two DJs look like. I've seen scans and photos of them on eBay, but there isn't enough detail in the few I
have seen to use in the creation of a quality facsimile. I'll probably never collect them, because they are incredibly
expensive in any condition.  Therefore this thirty-six will more than likely be all.  I'll keep looking for copies I can
afford, and for complete scans of the jackets, but I don't hold out high hope.
NOTE ABOUT THIS PAGE:  The first Tom Swift facsimiles that I posted on my website were simply direct scans of jackets either in my own collection or in those of
helpful friends and correspondents. However, recently, when I can get a good enough copy of the front cover illustration, I've begun attempting to make a
cleaned-up facsimile as close as I can get to what the original must have looked like. I'm a little more than half complete. I'm now in the process of upgrading
the website to include these new versions. All pages have now been updated, but are not yet complete. When completed all three Tom Swift pages will
eventually reflect the old scanned version and the newly created cleaned-up version. Over the next few weeks or so, I'll be adding more images until this
section of the site is completely upgraded. In the meantime, if you would prefer an upgraded jacket, but don't see it, let me know (mjoncar@embarqmail.com). I
may have it completed, but have not yet posted it.

Thanks
