erbgraphics - Dust Jackets for the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs
This site's purpose is to provide facsimile copies of dust jackets for the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the master of the
adventure novel, at an affordable price for as high a quality as I can produce to the millions of readers and collectors
who love a good story well told.

Edgar Rice Burroughs (September 1, 1875 – March 19, 1950) is the
successful author of more than 75 novels, the most famous being his
series of Tarzan novels. However, he also wrote science fiction,
westerns, and crime stories. Readers of all types and all occupations
have affirmed Burrough’s influence on them, particularly in their
formative, adolescent years. In this context it is difficult to overstate the
influence of Burroughs' books. Until recently if you read science-fiction
when you were young, then you read Burroughs. Within science fiction,
Burroughs’ writing is a part of the genre’s roots, and few modern SF
authors, and many non-SF, can claim that they have not been influenced
by Burroughs to a greater or lesser degree. Ray Bradbury has written
that “Burroughs . . . probably changed more destinies than any other
writer in America.” Hyberbole aside, no one doubts that he is one of the
most widely read and influential writers of the Twentieth Century,
inspiring people as diverse as Carl Sagan, Jane Goodall, Robert Heinlein,
Arthur C. Clarke, Gore Vidal, George Lucas, and Ronald Reagan.

from tarzan.org: Edgar Rice Burroughs was too
old to see active service in World War II ~ he was
66 at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack [which
he witnessed] ~ but as an established writer he
served the war effort by becoming a war
correspondent. He was the oldest war
correspondent to serve in the Pacific theater,
flying from island to island (even bumping into his
son Hulbert, who was serving as a war
photographer), reporting on troop activities,
going out on bombing runs with the 7th Air Force.
Burroughs came through this period of life
unscathed, although he would send Tarzan out on
a more danger-filled mission in Tarzan and the
"Foreign Legion" (1944).

Edgar Rice Burroughs - 1940 - An admitted ne'er-do-well, failing in any job he tried, Burroughs turned
to writing in his thirties in a desperate belief that he couldn't do any worse than others he had read.
For the rest of his life, year after year, with only a four year break for WWII, he would turn out pot-
boilers at a phenomenal rate and in the process create some of the most beloved and enduring
works of adventure, fantasy and science fiction written anywhere on the planet. His third book
brought to the world the most familiar and popular character in all of fiction, Tarzan of the Apes.

ABOUT THIS SITE
The primary purpose of this site is, of course, to sell facsimile dust jackets for the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs (often aka ERB
throughout this site). However, I've also tried to create a colorful, interesting site that also informs the visitor about the life, works,
illustrators, publishing, and collecting of ERB. Scattered throughout the site you'll find information blocks like the one above right that
highlight some aspect of the world of ERB. I hope I have succeeded in making the site as enjoyable as possible.
Thanks,
Charlie
